I think I can safely say I have never once created an account and opted in to receiving marketing emails. Yet it seems like every site sends them to me anyway, forcing me to deliberately unsubscribe. For those who have worked on such sites: does the box actually do anything? I assume including it is some legal requirement that’s just rarely (if ever) actually enforced?
