Show HN: Aamu.app – all-in-one productivity tool

4 pointsby ileover 3 years ago
Hi there HN.
Aamu.app is an app that I've made and I hope to get some feedback.
It aims to have all the most important productivity tools (for companies) in one package. It will hopefully get more of those features in time, but currently there are already quite a few – tasks, docs, video meetings and so on.
Why did I do it? Because I thought the current ones were not that good, and I'm talking about things like Microsoft's offering now. The different parts of their software were clumsy and they were not integrated very well into the whole – i.e. different parts were not designed in collaboration in mind.
I realize it's quite a big app for one person to do, but let's just say that I felt I needed to do and finish it. Couldn't stop after I had started it.
---
Here's an url you can try it without registering into it, and the usernames/passwords:
https://piper.aamu.app/
username: richard ... password: richard1
username: gilfoyle ... password: gilfoyle
username: bighead ... password: nbighead
username: dinesh ... password: xxdinesh
---
The main url of the site: https://aamu.app/
Hope to get some feedback, thanks!

I liked the analytics and the task management, but IMHO it does too much and the interface feels a bit clunky.
- multiple clicks to close a task.
- non-sensible defaults for creating tasks, like why not default the start and due date?
- can't filter by day
The way I think about personal tasks is they should be small and done in 1-4 hours and in the day they are assigned. I would never create a multi-day task. If a task is so big that it takes longer than 4 hours to do, I break it up into smaller tasks that are 4 hours long. If a task is more like a 'project', then I will use scope out the project in a tool like shortcut.com.
I also don't care to see tasks that I am supposed to due to tomorrow by default. My daily goal is to clear today's list.
I also really like automatically repeating tasks (e.g. "every quarter pay estimate taxes" or "water plants every 10 days") that appear on the day they are due. If I don't complete them, they stay in my list until they are completed and then re-appear in the next cycle.

Congrats on launching.
What I see missing from the list (and I’d personally give up half those features for) is Email. The fact that Microsoft gives me Email, Teams and Office apps for $5/month is what makes it a no-brainer for me. The email integration is a must have these days for me. Maybe you can partner, white label and resell someone’s?
I just signed to Zoho Apps moving from Google. Mainly for their e-mail service. (For family email)
I generally don’t care for the approach of offering so-so versions of a million things, but this works incredibly well for Amazon so onward.
