Where I live in Canada, it is pretty much the same story.<p>The salaries of local companies here in Canada outside of Vancouver and Toronto are such that if I told people here what the best dev I worked with earned in USD a year ago (he finally joined the remote train), people would wonder if I was the worst developer they ever met if I thought someone earning that was a star.<p>The number is 95,000 USD. Two years ago here, that would have hired you an ex-FAANG senior developer in Calgary. I actually know of another ex-FAANG dev earning about 75000 USD as he doesn&#x27;t want to go remote and family issues keep him in Calgary.

The company I work for is hiring devs in Mexico City and considering &quot;off-shoring&quot; multiple teams there. In this case getting rid of the US based devs.
