> A single piece of glass makes up the windshield, roof and back window in the Lucid Air.
Replacing that won't be cheap. And it's not like replacing a cracked windshield is an unusual situation. Friends of mine live in an area with a lot of gravel roads and logging trucks—replacing windshields is an annual occurrence.
https://static01.nyt.com/images/2022/02/01/business/00wheels...
I am fascinated by all the new car companies coming up but also super skeptical the market is big enough for everyone to make the same high end to subsidize the low end that Tesla did, especially with all the legacy carmakers coming online with their own EVs now. If you're a consumer choosing between a new 75k+ car, are you going to go with the BMW EV, the Tesla EV, or the Lucid EV? Maybe a few fall into that last category but I don't see that much of a comparative advantage anymore outside of the co's doing more specialized applications (e.g. postal delivery vehicles).
