I'm the main author of this paper. It was a part of my PhD work on opportunistic networking. I'm surprised to see it here, but happy to answer any questions.<p>I still believe this approach has a lot of unrealized potential, but unfortunately I never had the resources (time, students, funding) to push it as far as I think it could go. It has been maintained on a best effort basis over the years.
If I'm reading Figure 5 ("Fraction of clients reached by each message.") correctly, in a simulated "neighborhood network" with 50 users, broadcast messages reach less than 50% of users?!
