I just read the article "the fall of roam" here on HN. The author talks about abandoning the ROAM app- I abandoned it after an hour of use. Question; whats your favorite way to take notes- and how often do you revisit them?
I don't know if self hosting is an option for you, but recently I deployed Trilium (<a href="https://github.com/zadam/trilium" rel="nofollow">https://github.com/zadam/trilium</a>) on a personal server.<p>It's really easy to set up with docker and I'm amazed at the wealth of features.<p>I use it on desktop and mobile too without issues.
Standard Notes. Can't recommend it enough. Does one thing well, and uses encryption unlike other offerings like Evernote. I revisit it every two weeks or so to make sure I executed on my TODO lists. I'm often surprised at how much I manage to get done in two weeks.
pencil paper + google keep ( because of OCR )<p>taskpaper for notes and todos <a href="https://www.taskpaper.com/" rel="nofollow">https://www.taskpaper.com/</a>
pencil & paper<p>for specific contexts, I like obsidian<p>I WANTED to like notion... but capturing notes on the go from mobile is unpleasant and you can't check your notes if you lose internet access...
