Ask HN: Who takes the decision about buying a SaaS product in small companies?

1 pointsby kamraniover 3 years ago
We're a bootstrapped SaaS startup that helps you go from code to cloud in a few simple steps (you can use our platform or your own cloud platform). As we are a team of developers with ZERO marketing experience, we don't know who should we reach out to in a company to sell the product. Is targeting the tech-leads and senior developers a good idea? We know they most likely are not the people who take the decision but they understand the best what we do and the huge value they get from the product.

Read up on sales, figuring this out is part of the sales process. The answer is different for every company, though there are patterns. For small companies, it's usually closer to the user than you are thinking.
To Sell is Human, The Challenger Sale, Crossing the Chasm, The Little Red Book of Sales
Don't do ads until you have a repeatable sales playbook and never outsource lead gen
You will learn sooooo much by studying and doing founder led sales. It will pay itself back many times over
