Ask HN: Early Development Story of RPi?

1 pointsby tooltowerabout 3 years ago
I was watching this video celebrating the 10 year anniversary of the RPi: https://youtu.be/eiwm5TMHIy8
They mention how they had to spend multiple years of development before the first release, iterating quite a bit. Does anyone know how they managed it? Like, how did they keep the engineers interested? Were they paying out salaries at the time? If so, where did the money come from?

Eben Upton, the founder, was an architect for Broadcom and he worked around the raspberry pi initially. Here are some quick links,
• https://raspberrytips.com/raspberry-pi-history/
• https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eben_Upton

Small suggestion: I think spelling out Raspberry Pi in the title could get your post some more traction.
