Ask HN: How do you manage calendar to show work/ooo time of coworkers?

3 pointsby rajlegoabout 3 years ago
For the startup I work at, we'd like to see what availability other people have during the day and when they're gonna be not free. Google calendar might be enough for this but seems high overhead; I'm wondering if there are good solutions other companies use.

We use Google Calendar at my work. Everyone has their own personal calendars that coworkers can see if they type in someone's name. This is useful when scheduling meetings with them without having to see it all the time. For out-of-office notices, the company has a special company calendar that's set up in Google that we add all or partial day events to. All day events are stuck at the top of the screen while partial day ones are on the calendar itself. It's actually pretty straightforward and convenient for us.
