Looking at Energy Use in US Residential Buildings

Since houses have been built rather similarly from 1950s to today they would use very similar energy usage. Until we change how homes are built we wont see drastic decreases in energy use.<p>Comparing California to Arizona is very misleading, California has many more homes in colder regions than compared to Arizona. I think that is why you are seeing such similarity between the two states, if account for the climate differences California would clearly have the advantage.
