Lots of stories coming up about netflix with the two stock drops this year, all with different reason for it and a lot of arm chair netflix board members. Netflix won in a market by being different and killing blockbuster with a simple concept of no brick and motor and mailing dvds. They correctly pivoted to streaming, and we can see it in the numbers the mail dvd business is much smaller and shrinking faster. Anyone remember when they thought about spinning it off? Now netflix has higher overhead with trying to get content, the costs of running their network, and lots of competitors. Fortnite is a competitor like tiktok is, as well as all the streaming services that have come up and is now competing with apple, amazon plus all the past large content members. Getting into video games somehow could help, but I can't see how netflix competes with nintendo, microsoft and playstation which has their own online systems and own hardware. Now to armchair what netflix should do: buy content studios, make better content, and if they really want to get into video games. Maybe netflix can buy sega.
