Ask HN: Any beginner-friendly, low-cost approach to building a Linux tablet?

1 pointsby antran22about 3 years ago
I am looking to build/get a tablet running Linux for tinkering purpose. I would like to save my money on this project (no need for performance yet). A few approaches came up in my research: - Buy a PineTab/RasPad/CutiePi. - Buy a Chromebook tablet and install Linux on it. - Buy an Android tablet and try to install another Linux distro on it. Ubuntu Touch/postmarketOS are some options that came up on my research. - Buy a x86 (Intel Atom) device.
Is there any other approach that I am not aware of? Which would you guys recommend for a newbie?
