Interesting to read this once again in 2022. I hope the one VC guy has gotten his bunker ready because the train is already measurably picking up speed...<p>Though, to be fair, I really wouldn't mind some kind of cyberpunk future in which the world is extended by immersive virtual realities and genetics/implants/whatever can eradicate illnesses and disabilities and give people more freedom to be who (and what) they want to be.<p>As long as this tech is deployed to the benefit of <i>all</i> - and not used to drive inequality and social darwinism into such levels that the elites might as well become a new species of their own.
