I totally understand people living in a beautifyl place that want to preserve that. As well, the urgent need for a new grid is utterly clear.<p>Well-written article as far as it went, but it raised a lot of harder questions it didn't address. What were the motivations for the chosen route? How carefully was the route researched before the committment? Did someone at higher level than Anschutz find and offer only routes that avoid the most scenery? Were there alternatives? Is west the best direction to send Wyoming's energy? Why would a way-up powerline be a threat to elk herds? What makes 30 acres of a 56,000-acre property asking too much?<p>Seems as though ome body should have grappled with many of these questions already. Time is not waiting. Else our noblest sentiments will have to be disregarded
