Does google even understand how much they've screwed up chat? (text, voice, or video?)
Every time this comes up I can't help but shake my head and wonder how they dropped the ball so bad, so many times. I understand the whole "release a new product to climb the ladder"-problem but are the top-level execs really so blind that they continue to make the same mistakes (or allow it happen) over and over again?
Google Wallet/Pay/"whatever it's called this week" has the same issues. It's just astounding to me.
Securitywise this is just a downgrade: Google Duo was end to end encrypted, Google Meet is not.
It doesn't look like they're going to tell anyone about it.
There are reasons why Zoom is better than Google. I don't understand Google and the reasons why they want to confuse users so much. I don't understand why are they burning money by making the same thing under a different name Duo/Meet/Hangout/Phone...
It actually makes a lot of sense to merge the two. Why have multiple video chat solutions when you can have one. Now I don't need to pick. As long as they can keep different UX needs satisfied it makes a lot of sense.
