It's worth mentioning that while this type of story usually has the prosecuting company as the villain, this particular case concerns Team Xecuter, known infamously in the homebrew scene for stealing code to repackage and sell for profit without credit, marketing themselves explicitly around piracy, and many other deeply unethical practices. Teams like that reflect poorly on the scene as a whole and give hackers that simply want to put their own software on the devices that they own a bad name. This is a case where I do think that a prison sentence for the accused benefits society.
