The bizzare thing is that Androids are just fine with quartz. It&#x27;s not like they&#x27;re all that big.<p>Watches use them to run for years on a tiny battery, so I see almost no chance the power difference would be noticed. Phones aren&#x27;t really ultra low power devices.<p>iPhones are also designed to always be connected, so it&#x27;s not like you need ultra accuracy, almo nobody will be using them for months offline, and the base ppm spec looks worse than quartz.<p>Temperature swings aren&#x27;t a big issue either, if it gets hot enough to matter you will probably have other problems.<p>They must have <i>really</i> needed the space, or really wanted to think different.
