The bizzare thing is that Androids are just fine with quartz. It's not like they're all that big.<p>Watches use them to run for years on a tiny battery, so I see almost no chance the power difference would be noticed. Phones aren't really ultra low power devices.<p>iPhones are also designed to always be connected, so it's not like you need ultra accuracy, almo nobody will be using them for months offline, and the base ppm spec looks worse than quartz.<p>Temperature swings aren't a big issue either, if it gets hot enough to matter you will probably have other problems.<p>They must have <i>really</i> needed the space, or really wanted to think different.
