How the Federal Government Buys Our Cell Phone Location Data

> What can we do?
> Congress must ban federal government purchase of sensitive location information.
> The developers of mobile operating systems also have power to shut down this insidious data market.
> you can disable your advertising identifier
> You can also look at the apps on your phone and turn off any unnecessary permissions granted to third-party apps
Weak EFF demonstrates again why they lost my monthly donations. They should be recommending totally eschewing social media, replacing spyware operating systems with foss, and simply explaining in plain language - if your mobile device has the capability to install "apps" from the "app store" - the device itself is inherent spyware which multiplies this problem. Instead we get the equivalent of hopes and prayers.

> The Fourth Amendment prohibits unreasonable searches and seizures, and it requires particularity in warrants.
A lot of breath wasted for the simple context that could’ve helped a reader decide if the government is actively surveying US citizens.
1. They’re not.monitoring immigration flow as well as battlefield telemetry is nothing new.
2. Half these products suck, like babelstreet
3. Funny how this distracts from the fact that the data does exist & it’s clear where it comes from.
