"As enterprise customers turn to cloud to meet the need for more compute resources or to easily access the latest processors or GPUs, they bring their batch workloads with them. Batch is a general-purpose batch job service and the latest in a long list of products we’ve created over the years that process jobs to help enterprises migrate their workloads to the cloud. These services include Cloud Life Sciences (formerly Google Genomics), Dataflow, and Cloud Run Jobs."<p>My time as a SWE at Google included: launching/founding Google Genomics, explaining to Cloud leadership that we needed a common Batch executor for customers, being ignored for years, seeing multiple batch executors launched, each for a specific product, only for this to be launched at a point where I've concluded SLURM does a better job than the cloud batch PaaS. Google Cloud Batch looks very similar to AWS Batch, which is not a product that sparks joy.
