Email dang in the contact link below, but if HN does anything interesting, they probably won&#x27;t tell you lest they risk something being gamed for SEO.<p>From what I can tell, it checks the html&#x27;s metadata for a canonical link, and compares the link against a list of banned domains, and it probably assigns a quality weight to each domain as well.

The process is a mixture of different processes depending on who writes the reply and which process was chosen by the replier from their repertoire.

What does this even mean? There isn&#x27;t one single way to evaluate all links, not sure why you&#x27;d think that.
