Interesting concept that seems to be directly related to the uniqueness of this family.
It is a potential mechanism (in a radical, creepy, sci-fi sense) for sharing and distribution of the rewards of capitalism among a larger group. Imagine a co-op where the parents agree to sell shares of their children’s lives at age 13, with the capital being used for education and preparation for maximum return on investment. The shareholders become an advisory board with incentive to open doors for their “investments.”
I could definitely see a less creepy version of this in housing, where investors purchase shares of a home to augment debt. There is a lot of capital out there looking for returns on real estate investment. For qualified homeowners, this could be a welcome source of capital and a win-win.
