There are good marketing people out there but there are a lot of bad ones. I had one who tried to cut off all my small revenue sources to develop big revenue sources that never came.
When I was the PR manager for a college radio station at a small school I learned I had to spent $30 on photocopying to promote a dance by saturating everything with posters. A lot of people who want to get rich without working in marketing would want to spend more like 30 cents and give you all sorts of excuses about how the people who really want to go to the dance will seek out of one the 6 posters they put up.
We have an impressive track record and happy high-profile customers. I believe the purchase decision is self-evident. I don’t want new customers that need me to make a lot of promises or concessions, I’ll never hear the end of those. I only want new customers by referral.
In my case, is a new domain that throws me out of the comfort zone. I have to switch my way of thinking and stick to a marketing plan.
A few personal projects have failed because of this.
