Ask HN: Dangerous to drive with phone to navigate set to walk mode unaware?

This happened to me today with a passenger trying to help me find my way, and I was shocked how beguiling this predicament found me. I actually think someone could get hurt by making the same oversight.

Even relying too much on any navigational aid can be harmful. I&#x27;ve been in foreign cities using Google Maps or Waze and they&#x27;ve had streets marked as one-way but the wrong way, so I almost went on that street if I hadn&#x27;t spotted the signs.<p>Even when using the correct mode, or whatever, you should always look at the available signage, and you should be in the clear.
