Not just birds. Early in the pandemic, mice played freely on the platforms of the almost-deserted London underground, and in Soho, rats who would normally hide around the bins of the now-closed restaurants emerged blinking into the sunshine. It didn't last long though, after 6-8 weeks the humans returned in smaller numbers (and usually on recently purchased mountain bikes).
