> I find it odd for a vocally “progressive” institution to echo the sentiments of right-wing twitter trolls, but here we are.
The followers of Nazis were made to believe they would be taken advantage of. International Jewry for the most part, but also just other countries and that they supposedly were a threat was a fundamental in their believes.
I see a lot of this mirrored in DEI discourse. Not Jews, but straight white heteronormatives males in this case. Many call it populism and it works because there are countless instances where people really are being taken advantage of. But certainly not along racial lines. Especially in affluent and educated circles, racism simply is not that much of a problem anymore.
To me this charade looks like a coping mechanism to explain their privileges they so readily try to diagnose in others. But they cannot live up to their elite status as they just tend to bolster their positions and demand action from others. Cheap, harmful and useless efforts remain and their religions entirely needs an image of an enemy. These people are very often simple racists. They leverage and abuse the fact that most people do not want to offend others. But DEI personal needs to be offended quite distinctly and that would still not prove their original thesis, which is based on lies.
Institutions that jumped on this bandwagon should face critical examination on the quality of their publications.
