Godaddy just hijacked my domain

[OP] I have a domain registered through Godaddy and this morning the site went down. nslookup returned some random server IP address instead of mine so I thought the domain was hijacked (it was). Godaddy flipped it to a "Parked by Godaddy" website. Their customer support said I made this change and it wasn't their problem. I fixed it by logging into Godaddy and pointing my domain back to my custom DNS servers. Godaddy had changed it to use their DNS servers and served some ad page that also had a button offering the domain for sale. It looks like this has been happening to customers for over 4 years now. Have you had the same experience?
edit: two hours later and my DNS records are still jacked across the internet. Firefox uses DNS over HTTPS and routes traffic to cloudflare, which is 1.1.1.1, and I just found out anyone can manually purge their cache (neat!) https://cloudflare-dns.com/purge-cache/

Godaddy is one of the worst registrars. There are many alternatives.
If you mainly care about price, compare prices at tld-list.com
