Ask HN: Which frequently recommended CS/Math books do you absolutely hate?

4 pointsby curious16over 2 years ago
We have many threads on HN about best books to read in CS or Math. In such threads there are always some popular mentions.<p>Which such book(s) that are often recommended in online threads that you absolutely hate? Why is your distaste for those books genuine?

There was a large wave of converts to python in the beginning of last decade. Many of them wrote python in a weird way and when questioned their answer was Design Patterns by Go4. Their faith in literally following that book felt like a Taliban. Yes I hated that book because it was ruining a beautiful language.<p>I see less of these converts now or perhaps the book lost popularity!
