Appealing to the stereotyped 'learning styles' in instruction may not yield reliable results in terms of general academic performance, but swapping between them or targeting a specific mode of delivery for a particular bit of content can be especially helpful for maintaining pupils' attention and interest, which <i>does</i> have an impact on test scores. In my former life as an instructor I've found this to be true in both teenage and college-age class groups.<p>In a more narrow use case, I have found visual presentation methods are also especially helpful for teaching past cultural and linguistic barriers.
