Estonia claims to have not four seasons, but five. What’s the deal?

Bah. «For as long as humans have watched the plants grow and the animals migrate, we have divided the year into four seasons.» The fishermen where I grew up didn't divide the year into just four (two quite different kinds of "winter", for example). And on the other side of four, a friend lives in an area where they divide the year into three (cold, hot and rain).
Nothing compels nature to have four seasons, or even to have the same number everywhere. But you can generalise your own experience, and assume that other climates are like your own except a little hotter or cooler, and then write about it.
https://archive.ph/PwfL1#selection-483.0-483.119 BTW.
