I wanted to confirm if samsung phones are the only ones which switch the network to 4g when the display is turned off. I am currently using the s21 5g using ethernet tethering to use it as a 5g router with a usb-c 3.1 gen 2 dock supplying power and a gigabit connection to my access point. I have put the phone on a heatsink with a fan running so that temps are between 15-25 max under full load.
My network is always on 4g unless i turn the display on, then it stays on 5g as long as the display is timed out.
I have so far turned to keeping the display always on using developer options and using a screensaver. But this is a very bad solution as the amoled is probably going to burn when used 24/7.
Has anyone else seen this behavior and found any other solution ?
For me this is a bit of false advertising from samsung as i didn't see apple doing this behavior to save battery (maybe?) as i see way better performance on iphone 12/13 pro 5g.
