When someone uses an @here or @channel in a slack message and said message does not pertain to me I would like to be able to “unfollow” that message before the inevitable thread is created off of it. Why doesn’t slack allow for this? I’m assuming it’s because of the fact that messages are not threads until someone responds to a message in a thread and one can only “unfollow” (Turn off notifications for replies) threads. I’ve brought this up with other folks in my org and they’ve echoed my desire for this feature. Can any Slack employees here provide insight?
Do you really have time to be proactively unsubscribing from potential threads? Seems like a waste of human life.
You may have better luck muting or otherwise disabling the channel's notifications except when your @name is mentioned.
