Earlier today, Google launched new Pixel 7, 7 Pro, & Watch. In Europe (Germany), the cost of Pixel 7 is 649€, Pixel 7 Pro is 899€ & Pixel Watch costs 429€.
Now in Germany, Google is effectively offering Pixel Watch for free on purchase of Pixel 7 or 7 Pro. Either that, or Pixel Buds Pro (which is 200€+).
So my question is - What is Google hoping to achieve by providing a newly launched hardware for free. Important to note that Pixel 7 series costs the same as Pixel 6 series.
More adoption? I don't know about europe but here in the US the Apple watch is ubiquitous - perhaps more apparently than really because the square design is immediately recognizable, whereas competitors' smart watches are mostly round. For a product to sell well in the future, lots of people need to be seen using and enjoying it in the present.
