Ask HN: Is it worth diving deep into React Native?

1 pointsby kalyantmover 2 years ago
I've been using React Native professionally for about a year now, and I work at a startup. I think it's a good tool to get something out quickly for both platforms, especially when the app is relatively simple (think a heavy CRUD app) I've reached a point where I'm considering if it's worth spending time digging deeper and learning more about React Native (especially with the new architecture and fabric) or just diving into native app development For example, I see more and more companies move away from frameworks like React Native and just go the native route once the app is sufficiently large/complex I've seen experienced engineers tweet around the same (RN is good when you need to prototype and get something out fast, but when you have a big enough user base and a solid, verified product, you will inevitably bite the bullet and switch to native)
So the question is basically around the tradeoff - is it worth spending more time and mastering React Native, or just accept the fact that bigger companies and refined products prefer native apps and spend my energy there? I feel like most job postings that use RN are also smaller companies/startups, so I'm thinking if this will limit my professional opportunities in the future as well?
