You can spend around ~1000 dollars on a very good zoom lens and a mirrorless camera and get much, much better pictures than whatever the iphone or the pixel could ever give you.
I find these sort of articles just so, so stupid. If you're just going to be taking bathroom selfies then sure, you don't need "gear". But you don't get a camera to do that. You get a camera to actually go and take very good pictures. And a 10k camera? Those are meant to shoot extreme sports, wildlife, etc. I'd be surprised if you could take a picture of a cheetah running at 100km/h from hundreds of meters away with the pixel 7 pro. But guess what? That's precisely one of the use cases of these very expensive cameras.
Phone cameras are getting better, and that's amazing, and for sure they are a replacement for a ~1000 dollar camera set up that's only going to be used for daylight amateur street photography. But for photographers a good camera phone is a really good compliment to your gear, not a replacement.
This is why I have a DSLR, and why my DSLR costs me less per year than my phone camera: https://yewtu.be/watch?v=RCT-YMgjm9k
