That is so unAppley that I clicked on the article to find out how much I had misread the headline. Nope, read the headline correctly. Well, then, The Verge has gotten something horribly, horribly wrong. Because does this sound right to you? That a new iPad model only supports an old model of Pencil that you thought they didn&#x27;t even manufacture anymore, <i>and</i> it needs an adapter to do so? I mean, c&#x27;mon, there&#x27;s no way Apple would do something like that.<p>Turns out...

So why does it support a gen1 pencil but not a gen2 pencil?

I&#x27;d say Apples use of dongles are a joke at this point, but perhaps the data suggests the number of base model ipads using a (gen1) pencil are small enough to warrant the dongle crutch.
