My guess is that for one, it's very hard to study this in it's natural environment in a consistent. Plus you would need a release document pages long and even then it might not keep the lawyers away. Further, the organ itself is very different from subject to subject; it's not just the tip of the iceberg. Lot's of downside, not much upside.
