Wordtsar Review

2 pointsby jantypasover 2 years ago
I found this via Hackernews, and at first, I was just amused. Then I tried it. OK, it's 75% of the Wordstar I reemember, and that's cool and I wish the author gave us a way to support them for this effort BUT, this brings up another point. This software is SMALL and fast. This is obvious, but it raises the question, how much of our day to day software is just bloated to have features for a marketing list? 90% of what I'd need is here and do I really need Word or its clones? Sure, I could go back to groff, but as software engineers, are we building useful products or just monoliths to our perceived cleverness?

My fault.... One thing I would suggest -- this is cool, but can we move away from Qt and move to NCurses? This is useful because it means I can use this over SSH.
