iPad and iPhone start below $999 but on the Mac side, Apple has stuck with tradition and kept the $999 entry price. What is the rationale behind this? Is it because when Apple sells a person a Mac, they no longer get any meaningful recurring revenue from that user?
That's what a good laptop costs (also what people are willing to pay). They're more than reasonable for the performance you get out of it.<p>I'm surprised the price hasn't increased frankly.
