Here it says Germans are paying 13.58 c/kWh. I was under the impression that most Germans are paying >30 c/kWh. Source below. Makes me question the rest of the article.
https://www.vattenfall.de/stromtarife?plz=10117&consumption=...
I see the cheapest price as 33.12 c/kWh.
It is absolutely insane that Australia is number six on that list. The entire country could run off solar power easily, it should have some of the cheapest electricity in the world. Complete failure of political leadership, I hope this new government fixes things.
I live in Scotland. Here’s my numbers for a detached 3 bedroom property. My wife works from home 2 days / week and we have one school age child.
Usage:
* 16,675 kWh / year Gas
* 5,653 kWh / year Electricity
My direct debit is currently set at £348 / month to cover this. I also get £66 / month paid directly into my bank as part of the Energy Bills Support Scheme[1]
[1] https://www.gov.uk/guidance/getting-the-energy-bills-support...
I have recently bought a Drayton (Schneider) smart heating system with individual room temperature control via TRVs to hopefully bring down costs a bit.
The data here is some sort of long term average over five years. Super misleading because it's all skyrocketed in the last year.
I want to say that I was on maybe 12-15p/kWh in 2020 and now it's 36.
This is HN, so the Bay Area must not be in the world.
Here’s the PG&E incentive rate for EV charging:
https://www.pge.com/tariffs/assets/pdf/tariffbook/ELEC_SCHED...
24.699 cents/kWh off-peak
On the standard residential rates, the lowest possible price is 28 cents / kWh.
The electric regulation here is a near complete failure IMO. The best that can be said is that the lights mostly stay on in more urban areas.
