Ask HN: Why don’t companies build a browser app to get around Apple 30%

1 pointsby kristoover 2 years ago
Companies like Spotify, Twitter and others could get together and build a browser app that provides Native API access using Capacitor JS. They let their own apps be deployed with it. No need to pay the Apple Tax because it’s a browser, just like Chrome.

I wasn’t aware of capacitorjs.<p><a href="https:&#x2F;&#x2F;capacitorjs.com&#x2F;" rel="nofollow">https:&#x2F;&#x2F;capacitorjs.com&#x2F;</a><p>I will look at using that as a means to bring my Node based OS to IPhone and then problem solved.<p><a href="https:&#x2F;&#x2F;github.com&#x2F;prettydiff&#x2F;share-file-systems" rel="nofollow">https:&#x2F;&#x2F;github.com&#x2F;prettydiff&#x2F;share-file-systems</a>

I think the biggest blocker is the distribution cost of it, the unit economics may not match the thought to build it themselves
