I wish them luck, but just attaching solar cells to an electric car is a pretty minor innovation and not a sustainable competitive advantage for a whole company. There's nothing preventing other auto manufacturers from doing the same. And most consumers aren't going to get much power out of this due to the car being in shade or at a suboptimal angle to the sun most of the time. At least for consumers who own their own homes it would generally be more cost effective to install rooftop solar panels and use those to charge an EV.
