Ask HN: My iOS app got stuck in review for a month. What should I do?

9 pointsby knlamover 2 years ago
Basically the title. Last month, I submitted an app to the App Store for review, and it's been stuck in review for over a month now. Any attempt to contact apple is met with "just wait" response. It's starting to feel like my app is stuck in limbo
I've searched the internet, and it seems like many people are experiencing the same problem. Any advice on how to get my app approved and out of review?
Thanks in advance!

This happened to me once, and it ended up taking about 6 weeks before they back got to me. It was a similar “just wait” response the whole time until then.
It turned out to be a very simple change they wanted, but because of the nature of the change I think it’s something they needed to consult their legal team for.
So if they are not giving you any info, but you are able to make an educated guess about what change they might want, you can reject the binary and re-submit. Otherwise you probably will just have to wait.

Is it possible to reject the app/binary while it’s “in review”? I don’t recall if they disable the button once it progresses to “in review”.

That’s very unusual, I would cancel and resubmit or ask for an expedite. You can Google how to expedite AppStore reviews. If you have a good reason they’ll be reasonable. This is barring your app not doing something that might be in the grey area for the AppStore of course.

I'm thinking that a demo of the app to a couple devs you know who have stuff in the app store might help gain some insight. They know the process and may have experience in what to look for.

I, unfortunately, don't have a solution for you. But I'm immensely frustrated by these platforms at their ability to make these processes inanely hard.

dang, same here, planning to cancel the submission and resubmit
