I joked recently that the only way this could get worse for Musk is if he adopted Mickey Mouse as the official logo of twitter, but this could be a close second.<p>God knows twitter has become (fortunately and unfortunately) a major news source, and if this drives off enough journalists it's going to lose one of its major purposes.<p>I still don't think "Ah it's all a master plan so Musk can declare bankruptcy and walk away" actually makes ANY sense as a reason if you look at the loans and the amount of stock he's got up as collateral, but I could see a ploy that just leads to a very sad deal with outlets like fox/cnn/msnbc saying "i'm willing to control the message more than anyone before me if you play ball and pay up"<p>Thinking about this a bit more, I think this continues to open up the debate about if politicians should even be able to make statements related to their job on twitter? To my understanding there's a LOT of controls on not limiting public information and making sure it can be access and archived. I'm really not sure how far that goes with networks refusing to air things (i suppose that's the point of cspan), but the idea that musk can just ban any politicians account to prevent them from disseminating information related to their job (while others who play ball can still use it) might open interesting legal questions.
