Science is more a slang word these days. Of course it means different things to people, but most would assume it's an activity that is meant to offer clarity to things,to that of which we know absolutely, so it can be taught and built on, and to further investigate what we don't understand ... yet.
The problems set in when what people want to claim as knowing with great certainty, something which is more often not at all been arrived at or vetted by the scientific principal ... properly.
For a long while I've recognised there is "good science" and "bad science" ... nothing so much to do with evilness, but on how well those involved conducted research, studies, tests and arrived at a conclusion of what the data meant, while being mindful to include any possible external factor they had not considered or first overlooked from the onset of research.
Poor science often comes down to a rushed process due to a limited budget or a need to publish results to justify their job. More often it all starts with a huge bias and the subsequent design does nothing but set tests to confirm what they "knew" or "thought" most likely.
