Toward a unified theory of “millennial cringe”

This whole “generational humour” thing seems like so much debate over something so obvious?
Every generation and phase is going to have its in jokes, speech patterns, cultural references. The medium and mechanism changes, and probably the velocity, but the fundamental pattern remains the same.
The Gen Z crowd lampooning millennials for lol speak are going to find themselves similarly lampooned when the next generation gets old enough to start calling “no cap fr fr” cringe. It’s like the cycle of life, but for humour.
