The latest processes increase transistor density but don't particularly improve costs so we are seeing very high priced products like the 4090 and the Zen 4 which are reasonable if you divide performance/price but offer more power than many people want to pay for.<p>I am not seeing any new machine learning algorithm that really needs the 4-series, I am not seeing any new feature in games that is "game changing". There is an market of people who have to have the absolute best for work and play but it is not the mainstream. In fact the bulk of revenue is in mobile games today and you can't take for granted simply keeping gamers in the PC ecosystem, never mind growing it.
