7 pointsby is-is-oddover 2 years ago
- new grad
- started 6 months ago
- company stock has plummeted 90%
- company never been profitable
- company did layoffs recently but no tech roles impacted
- newest team member so likely earliest to get cut?
What does HN recommend? I don’t have much experience so I think finding a new job will be a struggle in this economy.

You haven't told us the most important details:
Do you enjoy it there? Are you happy with the work? With the compensation? If you rode it out and got laid off, do you have a few months savings to live on while you grab the next gig?
If you are miserable and stressed, leave. If you are happy and enjoy it but just want a safety net in case of layoffs, stash some savings and keep going.

At 6 months I would stay for another 6 months at least and see how the market is. If an offer falls in your lap you could consider it.

Start interviewing. Always be interviewing. It helps you practice and if SHTF you're already ahead.

You may find they lay off senior people before new grads, if there is an attempt to reduce costs

always have extra funds for getting a new job and always keep improving yourself and stacking up things you can put in your resume so interviews will be a lay up
