I don't mind the idea of this list, but for me it would be more effective if they gave concrete alternatives. Just from eyeballing it, it looks like the only places that aren't "no"s for me would take a flight or a cruise to get to. Those aren't great means of travel from a climate perspective, which leaves me asking how/where would be better.
Interesting story on Lake Tahoe. I've lived in Reno for quite a few years now and my wife and I never go to Lake Tahoe anymore, even though it is a 30-45 minute drive, and is truly one of the most beautiful places on earth. There are just too many people - it is amazing how crowded the entire area has become.
Any time I come across Fodor guides, I think of the old Carmen Sandiego games. They used to include a Fodor guide, and the copy protection would be questions like "what is the third word on page 96". They were always enjoyable to read in the same way Guiness World Record books were, to me.
