Doing the work here is epic. Even if Apple's legal domination of the situation stays in-force, having the technical potential there & making it available & finding whay the performance wins to brag about are- it shifts the Overton window of Apple's dominion.
Hugely worthwhile effort, whatever ends up happening. Having a buildable target individual devs can go build, try, run themselves: it shifts this from a hypothetical to a lawyer based constraint. Maybe it goes terribly & Apple's defense has been right all along, but I tend to think the availability of real information on how this would work in practice is not going to back up or do well for Apple's overarching aggressive "defense" by lawyers that they have maintained.
This shifts us into a real mode, beyond lawyerspeak. Good stuff.
