Most readers I have encountered say that they fell in love with reading after encountering book XYZ in their childhood or adolescence.
Has anyone on HN become readers later on in their life? Like in college, grad school or even later?
Around my early 30s, I probably had read less than 20 non technical books before that and now I’m at somewhere between 50-80 per year since then. I’ve managed to keep this up for 7-8 years but I’m now finding increasingly harder to find engaging books to read. The book that did it for me was The Quantum Thief by Hannu Rajaniemi.
My beloved started reading for pleasure a few years after grad school.
That's increased to daily and sometimes several books in a week over the last three decades.
Good luck.
